Crown Princess Tam

Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Size: Fits most adults (21-23 inch circumference head)

Materials: Loops and Threads Charisma yarn, 1 skein each of two colors desired; size 8 and 10 ½ circular knitting needles if using Magic Loop method, or set of size 8 and 10 ½ inch double pointed knitting needles; stitch markers.

Gauge: 13 sts/ 4 inches in stockinette stitch

With CC, cast on 64 sts and spread the sts evenly on needles according to method used.

Work 8 rounds in k1, p1 rib.

Inc round: *k1, k into the back of next st without removing st from needle, then purl into same st. Repeat from* around. (96 Sts)

Knit 1 round.

Attach MC, and work pattern from graph. When graph is complete, work in stockinette stitch until hat measures 5 inches from beginning, placing stitch markers every 16 sts on last round.

Work decreases as follows on every other round:

*k2 tog, work to 2 sts before marker, ssk ; rep from * around.

When 12 sts, remain, remove markes, and k2 tog around. (6 sts)

Cut yarn, leaving a 10-inch tail. Pull yarn through remaining 6 sts and pull tight.

Weave in ends.
