Picture
Perfect for the music enthusiast, this scarf will not roll, and is extra warm since it is two layers thick.
Finished Measurement:  approximately  6 1/2 inches by 56 inches.

Materials: size 6 (U.S.) knitting needles, worsted weight yarn: 8 oz. black, and 8 oz. white.

Gauge: 3 1/2 sts/inch and 5 rows/ inch in double-knit.

Note: Strands should be twisted at the beginning of each row. Both strands are placed behind work before a knit stitch, and both strands are brought to front of work before a purl stitch. Each square on the graph corresponds to two sts that are worked. If the graph shows the st to be worked as white, you will knit one st with white, then purl one stitch with black. Conversely, if the graph shows the st to be worked as a black st, the first st will be knit with black, and the second st will be purled with white. When working from the graph, colors alternate on each row. Reverse the colors on each wrong side row. Right side rows are read from right to left, and wrong side rows are read from left to right.

The first few rows are typed out, so you can get the hang of double-knitting.

Directions:
With white, cast on 46 sts.
Row 1: Attach black. (with both strands in back of work, k1 with white; bring both strands to front of work, p1 with black) 9 times, then (with both strands in back, k1 with black, bring both strands to front of work, p1 with white) 14 times.
Row 2: (with both strands in back of work, k1 with white, bring both strands to front of work, p1 with black) 23 times.
Row 3: repeat row 1.
Row 4: (with both strands in back of work, k1 with black, bring both strands to front of work, p1 with white) 23 times.
Row 5: (with both strands in back of work, k1 with white; bring both strands to front of work, p1 with black) 23 times.
Row 6: repeat row 4.
Rows 7-12: repeat rows 1-6.
Row 13: repeat row 5.
Row 14: repeat row 2.

Continue working from graph in same manner through top of graph, then begin at row 1 again, repeating graph for a total of 7 repeats, then work rows 1-9 once more (or length desired).
Bind off in white.
