Reversible Double-Knit Rose Scarf

Skill Level: Easy
Materials: Size 9 (U.S.) knitting needles, worsted weight yarn, 1 skein black, and 1 skein rose. (Caron Simply Soft Black, and Autumn Rose was used for sample.)
Gauge is not important.
Directions:
With Black, cast on 46 sts.
Row 1: With Black, k1. Bring black strand to front of work. Holding pink yarn in front, p1. Pass both strands to back of work, and then work row 1 of chart in Double Knitting (see below), reading from right to left. There will be two sts left on needle. Work these two sts as follows: with both strands at back of work, slip 1 st. Bring pink yarn only to front of work, and p1.
Row 2: With pink, k1. Bring pink yarn to front of work. with black, p1. Pass both strands to back of work, and then proceed with row 2 of chart in Double Knitting, reading from left to right.
Continue pattern as set, working the first two sts and last two sts as given in rows 1 and 2, and the working the chart between those sts.
Working in Double Knitting, follow chart for 3 repeats. Turn chart upside down and work 3 more repeats.
Bind off.
Fringe may be added if desired.

To read from the chart in Double Knit, each square represents TWO stitches. On right side rows: For blank squares, the first stitch will be knit with Color A (black in this case) with both strands at back of work, and the second stitch will be purled with color B (pink in this case), with both strands at the front of work. For a solid square, the first stitch will be knit with Color B (pink in this case) with both strands at back of work, and the second st will be purled with color A (black in this case), with both strands at the front of the work.
On Wrong side rows, the colors will be reversed.
