Picot Hem Version
Size: To fit a 21" head.

Gauge:" 3-1/2 sts/inch

Materials: Size 10 knitting needles; Caron Simply Soft yarn - one skein White, and one skein Berry Blue.

Directions: Holding two strands of yarn together (using one strand from the middle of the skein, and one strand from the outside) throughout pattern, Cast on 77 sts. Work 4 rows stockinette stitch. Change to blue yarn, and work two more rows (also using two strands of yarn).
Next Row: K2, (yo, k2 tog) across. Purl next row.
Work 4 more rows st st in blue.
Attach White yarn and follow chart below. (the diamond chart is not a complete repeat at the ends of right side rows, so pay attention when working the wrong side rows. The Bracket A marks the repeat section for the snowflake pattern only)

When chart is finished, you should be ready to work a  wrong side row.
Next row: (P2, p2 tog) across row.
Next row: [K1(white), k1(blue)] across.
Next row: P2tog-b across row. End p1.
Next row: k2 tog across.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail (long enough to sew seam of hat). Thread this tail through rem sts, and pull tight. Secure. Then sew center back seam.

For Rolled Hem, leave as is. Hem will roll up.
For Picot Hem, fold along 'yo' row and sew hem in place.
