Mountain Blackberry Hat

Materials: Size 13 (US) circular knitting needles (16-18 inch), or double pointed needles, two (50 gm) balls Schachenmayr SMC Boston, color Partie. (or other Bulky Weight Yarn)

Gauge: 3 sts/inch in stockinette stitch

Cast on 52 sts.
Join into round. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 5 rows.

Start Blackberry pattern:
Round 1: purl.
Round 2: *(p1, k1, p1) into next st, k3 tog, rep from * around.
Round 3: purl.
Round 4: *k3 tog, (p1, k1, p1) in next st, rep from * around.

Repeat rows 1-4 for pattern. Continue in pattern until hat measures approximately 9 ½ inches, ending by working an even numbered round.
Next round: (p2 tog) around.

Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail onto tapestry needle and pass it through rem sts on needle. Pull tight. Fasten.
