Size: Women’s Medium
Materials: Size 5 and 7 (U.S.) double pointed needles, OR long circular needle for magic loop; Red Heart Aran Fleck yarn or other worsted weight yarn (Category 4); tapestry needle; 12inches of waste yarn to hold thumb sts.
Gauge: 3 repeats in mock cable pattern measures 4 inches.
Abbreviations:
K=knit
P=purl
Yo= yarn over
Pfb= purl into front and back of st
K2tog= knit two sts together
K2tog-b = knit two sts together through the back loops
M1R= lift running thread between needles from back to front, and knit into stitch
M1L= lift running thread between needles from front to back and knit into back loop.
 
Directions: (make two)
 
With smaller needles, cast on 32 sts.
Join into a round. Work in k2, p2, ribbing for 2 ½ inches.
Change to larger needles, and work as follows:
Round 1: (k1, yo, k1, p2) 3 times; k1, yo, k1, p1, M1R, p1, (k1, yo, k1, p2) 4 times. (41 sts)
Round 2: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, p1, M1R, k1, M1L, p1, (k3, p2) 4 times. (43 sts)
Round 3: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, p1, k3, p1, (k3, p2) 4 times.
Round 4: (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 3 times; sl1, k2, psso, p1, M1R, k3, M1L, p1, (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 4 times. (37 sts)
Round 5: (k1, yo, k1, p2) 3 times; k1, yo, k1, p1, k5, p1, (k1, yo, k1, p2) 4 times. (45 sts)
Round 6: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, p1, M1R, k5, M1L, p1, (k3, p2) 4 times. (47 sts)

Round 16: (k1, yo, k1, p2) 3 times; k1, yo, k1, p1, k13, p1, (k1, yo, k1, p2) 4 times.  (53 sts)
Round 17: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, p1, place next 13 sts on a spare length of yarn, cast on 2 sts over thumb opening k13, p1, (k3, p2) 4 times. (42 sts)
Round 18: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, p1, k2 , p1, (k3, p2) 4 times.
Round 19: (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 3 times; sl1, k2, psso, p1, k2, p1, (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 4 times. (34 sts)
Round 20: (k1, yo, k1, p2) 3 times k1, yo, k1, p1, k2, p1, (k1, yo, k1, p2) 4 times. (42 sts)
 Round 21: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, p1, k2, p1, (k1, yo, k1, p2) 4 times.
Round 22: (k3, p2) 3 times; k3, pfb, k2, pfb,  (k3, p2) 4 times.  (44 sts)
Round 23: (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 4 times, k2, p2 (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 4 times.
Round 24: (k1, yo, k1, p2) 9 times.
Round 25: (k3, p2) 9 times.
Round 26: (k3, p2) 9 times.
Round 27: (sl1, k2, psso, p2) 9 times.
Repeat Rounds 24-27 until glove measures approximately 9 inches, ending with Round 27.
 
Shape top of glove:
Round 1: (k1, yo, k1, p2) 9 times.
Round 2: (k3, p2) 9 times.
Round 3: (k3, p2 tog) 9 times.
Round 4: (sl1, k2, psso, p1) 9 times.
Round 5: (k2, p1) 9 times.
Round 6: (k2tog, p1) 9 times.
Round 7: (k1, p1) 9 times.
Round 8: (k2tog-b) 9 times.  (9sts)
Cut thread, leaving a long tail for sewing, and thread through rem 9 sts. Pull tight. Fasten securely, and weave in ends.
 
Thumb:
With larger needles, place 13 thumb sts on needles.  Pick up 2 sts from cast-on sts of hand. (15 sts). Work rounds in stockinette stitch until thumb measures 2 inches from join. K2 tog all the way around, ending k1. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Thread yarn through rem sts, and pull tight. Fasten securely, and weave in end.
